Job Opportunity: Database Administrator (DBA) - DV Cleared
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: negotiable around £400 per day OUTSIDE IR35
End Date: 6 months (potential for extension/temp to perm)
Location: Birmingham/London (Client Site Travel Required)

Security Clearance: DV Clearance (Highest level of UK security clearance)
About the Role:
Join a team as a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with the highest level of UK security clearance (DV) to work on a critical project.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as SME: Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Databases, providing assistance to production lifecycle teams including development, infrastructure, testing, and production.
  2. Database Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Monitor, maintain, and tune databases to optimize server availability.
    • Troubleshoot performance and connection issues.
    • Create suitable database alerts and proactively respond to them.
  3. Environment Setup and Maintenance:
    • Build environments based on standards and best practices aligned with operational and business requirements.
    • Monitor database maintenance scripts for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics.
  4. Backup and Recovery:
    • Produce, maintain, and ensure backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
Essential Experience Required:
  • Experienced in database technologies with a strong understanding of SQL development and scripting tools.
  • Proficient in database administration, including backups, maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in implementing high availability setups such as Always on HA, Mirroring, log shipping, and Microsoft Clustering.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server Stack – SSMS, SSAS, SSIS & SSRS.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server internals and core database functionality (indexes, schemas, triggers, etc.).
  • Understanding of database architecture and design.

    • Minimum 2+ years’ service and installation experience (ideally within AV, but experience with Smart Home/ general Electrical Installation, kiosks, cash machines etc. will be considered)
    • Full UK driving license
    • Ability to pass a DBS check
    • A good level of English – spoken and written
    • Good timekeeping, reliability, and a professional manner
    • The ability to be flexible within a working week as shifts can change between days and nights
    • Ability to manage your own workload
    • Great communication skills
