Senior IT Project Manager

Project Manager – PRINCE2, Scrum, Agile, Network, Infrastructure

An experienced Project Manager is required by a large Public Sector client based in Manchester, to work alongside the infrastructure and operations team, as part of a large modernisation programme. The successful candidate will provide leadership across the team, and lead on the planning and delivery of both new and underway projects.

This would suit a Project manager with experience in IT Infrastructure and Networking, who has strong experience on IT-related projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To lead on the creation of a portfolio plan of all ongoing IT projects, liaising with senior members of the Digital, Information and Technology (DIT) team to prioritise project delivery for the organisation.
  • Establish processes for the ongoing capture, triage and reporting of incoming IT projects or tasks and work with the DIT Head of Service Delivery Management to embed this into the wider DIT portfolio oversight reporting and mechanisms.
  • Work with the team and key stakeholders to understand resource requirements and inputs for projects, and map project plans including activities/deadlines against resource availability and constraints.
  • Ensure the successful and punctual delivery of IT projects, within the specified budget and adhering to the company quality and performance standards.
  • Effectively manage multiple IT project(s) concurrently in accordance with delivery priorities and available resources.
  • Produce and feed into project plans, project initiation documents, highlight reports and all other required documentation including risk and issue logs to ensure the delivery of agreed deliverables, milestones, and objectives.
  • Where applicable, manage project teams to support the delivery of the projects.
  • Support your department and/or team in a way which will contribute to its smooth and efficient operation.
  • Engage and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders across the organisation and third-party providers as necessary to support projects

 

Experience Required:

  • Proven, significant experience of hands-on management and delivery of complex projects within an organisation with multiple stakeholders.
  • Project management qualification - PRINCE 2 or equivalent, Six Sigma (preferably black belt), Agile.
  • Significant experience of managing a portfolio of projects in the IT sector, having both proven experience of personal management on multiple projects at any one time, and having worked in conjunction with other project managers on such projects.
  • An excellent communicator, who can proactively and effectively follow-up with colleagues, hold people accountable whilst maintaining positive working relationships, and escalate any issues appropriately where necessary
  • Demonstrative experience in the establishment of processes to support BAU queries, in addition to project queries and issue resolution across the team.

Would be beneficial:

  • Experience working within the public sector.
  • Experience and proven knowledge of IT asset procurement.
  • IT networking, ITIL, or cyber security qualifications would be beneficial.
  • Motivation to lead professional development, through training sessions for IT colleagues.
